Paneer Bhurji Recipe

Paneer Bhurji Recipe

A lazy paneer recipe that is simple and delicious. I use this recipe to use the left-over paneer or home made that turns out crumbly. The spiciness cab be varied. A less spicy paneer bhurji goes well with bread or chapatis and a more spicy version can be made for rice. The paneer bhurji can be used as stuffing for sandwiches , masala dosa and frankies.

  • Break the paneer into crumbles
  • Finely chop the onions and coriander
  • If using green chilies, chop the chilies finely

  • Heat oil in a thick wok
  • Add the cumin seeds to the hot oil, Be careful and do not let the cumin seeds burn
  • Quickly add the onions, mix and lower the heat. Let the onions cook for a minute
  • Add the turmeric powder and ginger garlic paste. Mix well
  • Add the chili powder and half of the chopped coriander
  • Add the paneer crumbs and mix thoroughly.
  • Add salt to taste and some more oil, if required
  • The paneer looses its softness if cooked for a longer duration. So cook the paneer for 2-3 mins.

  • Turn off the heat and let the bhurji stand in the wok for a minute or two before serving

  • A pinch of garam masala or kasuri methi can be added to the bhurji
  • Green chilies can be used instead of red chili powder. 2-3 chopped green chilies can be added to this recipe
