Kadai Paneer Recipe


  • Paneer/ Cottage Cheese: 200g
  • Tomatoes: 4
  • Capsicum: 2
  • Green chili: 2
  • Kasuri Methi: 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder: 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder: tsp
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala powder: 1 tsp
  • Ginger-garlic paste:  1/2 tsp
  • Oil: 2 tbsp
  • Salt


  • Cut the paneer into cubes
  • Chop the tomatoes into small pieces
  • Cut the capsicum into thin long pieces
  • Chop the green chili into fine pieces


  • Heat oil in a thick kadai/ wok
  • Add the tomatoes and stir
  • Add the turmeric powder and the ginger garlic paste
  • Reduce the heat and allow the tomatoes to cook for about 2 mins
  • Add the chopped green chili
  • Add the red chili powder and coriander powder and stir well
  • Continue cooking the tomatoes along with the spices until the tomatoes are soft and the oil starts leaving the gravy
  • Add in the capsicum slices and cook for a minute
  • Add the paneer cubes and mix
  • Add the kasuri mithi, garam masala powder and salt
  • Cook on medium flame till the capsicum pieces are done. Add a little water if required
  • When the capsicum is done turn off the heat and serve hot


  • To get a richer flavor and aroma do the following:
  1.   Instead of using ginger-garlic paste use freshly prepared ginger paste and freshly prepared garlic paste
  2.   Instead of using coriander powder and chili powder grind some       coriander seeds along with a red chili
  •  Onions can also be chopped finely and added before adding the tomatoes
